Mohamed Salah confirms intentions to stay put at Anfield next season

Mohamed Salah confirmed his intentions to stay put at Anfield next season with the Liverpool winger’s comments sure to come as a major relief to the supporters.

With his current terms on Merseyside set to expire in the summer of 2023, there had been speculation doing the rounds that the likes of Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain were interested in approaching the player for his signature.

The Egypt international, however, sounded out a big claim over his Liverpool future by saying that he was staying at Anfield for the upcoming season but stopped short of adding anything further over the contract talks with the club, according to ESPN.

“I am just focused on the team and don’t want to talk about my contract.

“But I am staying next season for sure, that’s for sure.

“In my mind, I don’t focus about the contract at the moment. I don’t want to be selfish. I said two months ago, it’s all about the team now. It’s a really important week for us, so I am just focused on the team. I want to win the Champions League again.”

Salah, who shared this campaign’s Premier League Golden Boot award with Tottenham Hotspur talisman Son Heung-Min, had been linked with a move away from Liverpool in the forthcoming transfer windows.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has long pushed for the former AS Roma and Chelsea forward to commit to a new long-term deal at Anfield and rebuff interest from elsewhere in light of his increasing stature in the Liverpool hierarchy.
