Liverpool slap £15 million price-tag on central defender Nat Phillips

Liverpool have slapped a £15 million price-tag on central defender Nat Phillips who is wanted by the newly-promoted Premier League outfit AFC Bournemouth.

Phillips was a crucial performer for Jurgen Klopp’s Merseysiders in the second half of the 2020-21 season with his showings in an injury-ravaged backline key to the club securing a top-four berth in England’s top flight.

He secured a season-long loan move to Bournemouth last summer with the returns of Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez from injuries meaning that Phillips was set for a fall down the Anfield pecking order.

Following a successful campaign with The Cherries, Bournemouth are hoping to sign the centre-back on a permanent basis but could be forced to shell out a £15 million transfer fee demanded by the Liverpool camp, according to a report from The Sun.

Jurgen Klopp has no shortage of quality options at his disposal in the defensive lineup following the arrival of Ibrahima Konate from Leipzig last year with the Frenchman exceeding expectations with his stellar showings this season.
