Liverpool set for contest with rivals Manchester United to land Darwin Nunez

Liverpool are set for an intense contest with rivals Manchester United to land Darwin Nunez this summer with the Uruguay striker in high demand.

Nunez’s exploits in the attacking third for Benfica over the course of the 2021-22 season earned the young forward rave reviews and potentially a big-money ticket to England’s top flight with Liverpool interested in landing his signature.

Jurgen Klopp’s Merseysiders, however, will face serious competition from across the land with arch rivals Manchester United also understood to be readying an offer to lure Nunez to Old Trafford under new manager Erik ten Hag’s charge.

According to a report from The Independent, it is claimed that the Red Devils are prepared to hijack Liverpool’s approach for the Benfica dangerman who is rumoured to command a sizable asking price of around £100 million.

The Uruguayan, however, is tipped to prefer a move to Merseyside over Old Trafford with Liverpool’s place in the Champions League likely to be of much importance to Nunez’s decision of his next playing destination.
