West Ham could step up their efforts to sign Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

West Ham could step up their efforts to sign Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain this summer after a setback in their pursuit of Jesse Lingard’s signature.

Chamberlain’s future at Anfield beyond the summer transfer window remains up in the air despite suggestions that Liverpool wants to retain the 28-year-old with Jurgen Klopp deciding against bringing in fresh faces for his midfield ranks.

According to a report from The Irish Mirror, it is claimed that following a failed swoop for England international Jesse Lingard, West Ham are hoping to lodge a bid for the Liverpool fringe first-team player Chamberlain before the window closes.

David Moyes is on the hunt for reinforcements to his options in the centre of the park and the former Arsenal man Chamberlain is said to have emerged as a viable target for the West Ham United head coach.

Chamberlain has found himself out of favour at Anfield in recent times due to his recurring injury woes coupled with the likes of Thiago Alcantara, Jordan Henderson, Naby Keita and more recently Harvey Elliott providing tough competition for the midfield berths.
