Liverpool looking to sign a new midfielder before Thursday’s transfer window deadline

Liverpool are said to be on the hunt for a new midfielder before Thursday’s transfer window deadline with Jurgen Klopp ready to freshen his injury-hit squad.

Injuries to the likes of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Thiago Alcantara, Curtis Jones and more recently, Naby Keita, have left Klopp lacking quality options in the heart of the midfield four games into the new season.

According to CBS Sports ( via The Daily Mirror), the Liverpool recruitment team are looking to bring in a fresh face to bolster their midfield ranks with the Merseysiders scouting the transfer market for a viable option.

Barcelona’s wantaway star Frenkie de Jong, who has gathered serious interest from Manchester United and Chelsea this summer, is not a name on Liverpool’s shopping list with Klopp likely to look elsewhere for a cheaper alternative.

It remains to be seen whether Liverpool step up their efforts to land the services of long-standing target Jude Bellingham amid reports that Liverpool had reached an agreement to sign the Dortmund talent in the January window.
