Liverpool have registered an interest in signing Southampton defender Armel Bella-Kotchap but face competition from European champions Real Madrid for landing the promising central defender.
The 20-year-old Bella-Kotchap made the move to Southampton in the summer transfer window from the German outfit VFL Bochum and his showings in England’s top flight have earned him much praise.
Liverpool have often turned to Southampton for their star first-teamers, with the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Sadio Mane, Ricky Lambert, and Adam Lallana signing for the Reds in recent years, and Bella-Kotchap could be the next name on the list.
According to a report from the Spanish news outlet Fichajes, it is claimed that Liverpool and Real Madrid are both vying to secure the signing of Bella-Kotchap following his debut campaign in the Premier League.
The Reds are not expected to pursue a move for the Saints starlet when the transfer window reopens in January with Jurgen Klopp on the lookout for reinforcements to freshen an injury-hit engine room despite bringing in Arthur Melo on deadline day.
