Why Liverpool Fans Shouldn’t Go Into Crisis Mode?

Rival fans are laughing, online betting sites have already written us off for the title, and Reds fans are slipping slowly into crisis mode. Has this been a great start for us? Of course not, but we are not going to give into the temptation of writing our season off. We haven’t struggled this much for a long time, but let’s be honest, we have raised the bar so high that anything less than perfection is seen as us failing.

Here is exactly why we won’t be panicking, and why fellow Reds fans need to keep the faith.

Taken Its Toll

What Liverpool has done over the past 5 seasons has been nothing short of outstanding, especially given the relatively thin side we’ve had, when compared to City’s millions. Just look at the number of minutes the likes of Robbo, Mo, Trent, VVD, and Mane have put in, it’s almost superhuman.

This is just the physical effort, consider the mental toughness they have going back time and time again looking for success. There was always going to be a lull and this is it.

Also consider the mental exhaustion after what we put in last season, only to lose the league by a point and the CL in such a fashion.

Youth and Energy

Thankfully Klopp and FSG have been smart in the transfer windows and whilst it wasn’t the summer that we would have liked, there is enough energy in that dressing room to pick things up.

Luis Diaz is only getting started, what a player! Add the youth of Elliot and Carvalho, plus Jones to come in and Tsimikas showing that he’s got talent, and things could turn quickly. We forget as well just how good Nunes is, he’s had a baptism of fire with the red card, but he’ll hit form soon enough and that will drive the team on.

Injury Issues

There is no doubt that we have a creaky midfield, Thiago struggles so much, Fabinho gets his knocks and Hendo hasn’t been right for a while. January will undoubtedly have someone come in to support CM and CDM, mark our words on that. For now, we have some characters in there and the key is a consistent pairing. Let’s hope Fab and Keita can nail down their places quickly.

It’s Early

It is far too early in the season to write anyone off, and that has been true since the dawn of the league. Man City have already shown that they can concede goals and are already dropping points.

Every Liverpool fan should remember that this is very much a marathon and not a sprint. We don’t expect point totals to be anywhere near what Liverpool and City got last year, given the increased ability of lower-placed teams and the resurgence of Spurs, Arsenal, and United.

Liverpool can be sleeping giants this season, working away behind the scenes, away from the main spotlight, before roaring back to the dominance we know and love.
