Trent Alexander-Arnold and Darwin Nunez return to the Liverpool XI for the midweek outing in the Champions League group stages against Ajax.
Nunez had sat out the weekend’s shock defeat to Nottingham Forest in the Premier League while Arnold had come off the bench in the second half.
Gomez retains his starting berth
Despite suggestions of Ibrahima Konate’s entry into the XI for the visitors to partner Virgil van Dijk in the heart of the defence, it is Joe Gomez who starts alongside the former.
Gomez has been a regular for Liverpool in recent weeks owing to injury troubles for both Joel Matip and Ibrahima Konate.
Nunez to lead the line for Liverpool
In the midfield for Liverpool, Thiago Alcantara’s injury means that the young Harvey Elliott starts with Fabinho and the skipper Jordan Henderson.
The returning Darwin Nunez operates in the central striking role with Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah providing him company.
