Liverpool Legend Jan Molby Knows How Reds Can Capitalize On Manchester City

Reds legend Jan Molby has revealed that Manchester City’s World Cup hangover could help Liverpool to gain ground on Pep Guardiola’s side.

At the moment, there are three teams that are still unbeaten in the Premier League; Manchester City, Liverpool, and Chelsea. But as the Blues were held to a stalemate at Stamford Bridge to Everton last week, it seems like there will be just a two horse race for the Premiership this term. Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool is just two points behind City and will give the champions a good run for the title in the league.

Former Liverpool superstar Jan Molby believes that the Merseyside outfit can use the World Cup factor as a major boost against Manchester City. Even though Liverpool and City had plenty of players that were drained out and tired after the World Cup in the summer, Manchester City look like the grand tournament has affected their squad.

The 55-year-old former Danish superstar Jan Molby wrote on the Liverpool Echo, stating that Manchester City will face a hangover from the World Cup and injury problems that Liverpool should capitalize on, “It might not be as exciting as it was last season but it’s a tough unit now. Manchester City has clearly hit the ground running but at some point, they’ll have a World Cup hangover. They’ve had Kevin De Bruyne injured already while Benjamin Mendy has just had knee surgery so they’ll have their problems. You’ve just got to try and keep as close to them as you can while they’re playing well and don’t give them a gap. Liverpool has to maintain the pressure and see what happens.”

Liverpool is still very much in the title race and the club’s attackers have not even started hitting the heights of last season. It’s getting interesting but I don’t think that Manchester City will face a World Cup hangover because they have a deep squad which can replace star players when required.
