Liverpool enter race to sign France World Cup star Randal Kolo Muani

According to the Liverpool Echo, Liverpool has entered the race to sign France World Cup star Randal Kolo Muani but will have to compete with Tottenham for his services.

The 24-year-old forward was given a chance to feature for Didier Deschamps’ side in Qatar after Christopher Nkunku was withdrawn from the squad due to an unfortunate injury.

Kolo Muani began his career at Ligue 1 club Nantes, where he scored 21 goals over 79 appearances and helped them win the 2021–22 Coupe de France. He was just given his first France cap in September.

By scoring eight goals in his first 23 games across all competitions, he earned a move to Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer, but he may already be poised for a deal with Liverpool or Spurs.

Kolo Muani rejected Tottenham’s offer in the summer in favour of moving to Germany, most likely because he would see more playing time there. Given that his Eintracht Frankfurt deal won’t expire until 2027, Liverpool or Spurs might have to fork over a sizable sum of money to sign him this summer. According to reports, Kolo Muani has a hefty price tag of €80 million (£69 million).

Liverpool has struggled to find their best-attacking combination in the absence of Sadio Mane. Darwin Nunez has failed to show consistency in the Premier League.

The ideal situation for Jurgen Klopp would be to add another forward to be able to contend for a spot in the starting lineup, but Kolo Muani’s expensive price might be a major issue.

The 24-year-old has a lot to learn, and it might be too soon for the youngster to accept such significant changes at this stage of his career.
