Liverpool receive setback in pursuit of Valencia midfielder Yunus Musah

Liverpool have received a setback in their pursuit of Valencia midfielder Yunus Musah with the Spanish club readying a new contract for the USA international.

The 20-year-old midfield talent has courted plenty of attention on the back of his recent performances at the World Cup where he was pivotal to his country’s advancing through to the last 16.

With the Reds head coach Jurgen Klopp on the hunt for viable options to reinforce his engine room, Musah had been on the radar of the Anfield giants with the likes of Arsenal and Inter Milan also monitoring the youngster’s contract situation.

According to a report from The Daily Mirror, it is claimed that Musah, who joined Valencia from the Arsenal youth setup in 2019, could be in line for a new deal at the La Liga club in an attempt to fend off mounting interest from elsewhere.

His current terms with Valencia are due to expire only in 2026 and include a release clause of €100 million which would be deemed rather excessive by his suitors in the Premier League.
