Liverpool eyeing up an audacious move for Chelsea star Mason Mount

Liverpool are reportedly eyeing up an audacious move for Chelsea star Mason Mount whose contract standoff with the Blues has attracted much talk.

Mount has 18 months remaining on his current terms in west London and the England international camp has been in constant negotiations with Chelsea over a new long-term deal for the playmaker.

His £75,000-a-week wage, which makes him one of the lower earners at the club, is understood to be a stumbling block for Mount who wants Chelsea to prove they value him by making a sizeable offer as clubs across Europe keep tabs on his situation.

According to a report from The Guardian, it is claimed that Chelsea could be set to intensify their talks with Mount over fears of losing out on their star first-teamer to Premier League rivals Liverpool who are prepared to act on their interest in the 24-year-old.

The Reds want to rebuild their midfield in the summer with three players – Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner out of contract at Anfield and likely to move on at the end of the season.
