Galatasaray are reportedly leading the chase to sign Liverpool centre-back Nat Phillips who has been heavily linked with a move elsewhere ahead of Tuesday’s deadline.
The Turkish Super League table toppers are engaged in talks with the Liverpool camp who have set a valuation of £10 million on Phillips whose future at Anfield beyond January 31 hangs in the balance.
According to a report from The Athletic, it is claimed that Galatasaray are keen to land the signature of the Reds defender with three options – a short-term loan, a loan with an option to buy this summer and a permanent transfer all on the table.
The 25-year-old is understood to be open to the idea of making the move to Istanbul despite interest in his services from a number of Bundesliga clubs with Liverpool hoping to cash in on the defender who has made just five appearances for them so far this season.
A hamstring injury to defensive mainstay Virgil van Dijk had sparked off speculation that Liverpool would be retaining Phillips until the end of the season but since then Jurgen Klopp’s side have recalled Rhys Williams from his loan spell at Blackpool.
