Liverpool could gain ground in their pursuit of Chelsea star Mason Mount with the Stamford Bridge camp halting talks over a new contract for the playmaker.
Mount’s future in the English capital has attracted much speculation of late with the 24-year-old England international holding out for a new and improved contract that would make him one of the highest earners in the Chelsea squad.
He wants to tripe his current £80,000 a week deal but the latest offer made by Chelsea was significantly less than what news arrivals like Raheem Sterling are pocketing which has sparked off fresh rumours over his contract situation.
According to a report from The Daily Mail, it is claimed that Chelsea have put a stop to talks with Mount and his representatives over a new deal with both parties ‘a long way apart’ on striking an agreement.
It is understood that Mount could be set to move on and seek a new destination after Chelsea’s spending spree over the last two transfer windows with the Blues spending over £500 million on new incomings.
