According to Liverpool Echo, Borussia Monchengladbach has dropped their asking price for Liverpool target Kouadio Kone this summer.
The Reds have been mentioned as a potential suitor for the 21-year-old, as his future at Borussia Park is still up in the air. Bayern Munich, Newcastle United, and Paris Saint-Germain were a few of the teams who have also enquired about the midfielder’s future during the January transfer window.
Kone has two years left on his contract and several of bidders have shown interest due to his lower asking price. He has been one of Die Fohlen’s most reliable performer over the past 18 months, but they could have to sell him in the summer.
The German team has lowered its valuation from about €45 million (£39 million) to roughly €30 million (£26 million) for the young midfielder. Remy Bensebaini and Marcus Thuram are also expected to be sold this summer, therefore it has been suggested that the money they will make from the former FC Toulouse player may go towards financing Daniel Farke’s rebuild.
For Klopp’s team, this summer has been hailed as a crucial time as he attempts to reorganize the group of players who have previously paid him back with their performances.
Their achievements this season haven’t lived up to past expectations, as they currently sit six points outside the top four. Together with Jude Bellingham, Kone is one of many players who have been linked to a transfer to Anfield.
