Darren Bent has urged Liverpool to snap up Chelsea rebel Mason Mount this summer with the playmaker providing that fresh pair of legs which is required by the Reds’ engine room.
Mount is heavily linked with a move to Liverpool ahead of the summer’s transfer window with the England international mulling over leaving Chelsea after his talks over a new deal hit a roadblock.
Speaking to talkSport, played turned pundit Darren Bent said that Mount’s addition would be crucial to Liverpool’s midfield which has come under fire this season for their underwhelming displays.
“If you look at the clubs that are in for him, the only one that makes sense for me – and I think they need him – is Liverpool.
“Because they need legs in that midfield. He would add quality to that midfield.”
The player’s contract situation at Stamford Bridge has been revealed as “complicated” by his manager Graham Potter who is expected to sanction Mount’s exit as some of the biggest Premier League clubs wait eagerly in the wings.
Liverpool, however, are likely to find it challenging to sign the 24-year-old who also has Manchester United and Newcastle United chasing his signature despite his drop in form this season with just eight goal involvements in 32 matches in all competitions.
