Chelsea are reportedly in line to ask for £70 million to part ways with Liverpool target Mason Mount despite the player entering the final year of his contract this summer.
The Reds are considered to be the favourites to land the England midfielder whose talks with Chelsea over a new long-term deal have led to nowhere with his demands of a wage hike not going down well with the Stamford Bridge outfit.
According to a report from The Athletic, which claims that Mount’s priority would be to remain in the Blues shirt beyond this summer, Chelsea’s asking price for parting ways with the 24-year-old is a sizable £70 million fee.
It is certainly an ambitious price tag for a player that could be on the move on a free transfer the following year but Mount’s ability has made him an endearing name to the Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly.
Liverpool face a far from an easy task to bring Mount to Anfield this coming summer with the Merseysiders set to face competition from Italian giants Juventus and German champions Bayern Munch besides Premier League rivals Manchester United.
