Liverpool edging closer to securing £50million Alexis Mac Allister deal

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Liverpool, and Brighton have struck a deal in principle to sign midfielder Alexis MacAllister.

The Reds will pay the Seagulls up to £57.6 million if they can convince the midfielder to accept their contract offer.

Liverpool is frantically trying to bolster their midfield this summer. Jurgen Klopp had Jude Bellingham as one of his top targets, but the Reds have chosen not to sign the England international.

The club’s management decided that it would be foolish to invest the majority of their transfer budget in just one player when numerous additions are required. Hence, Mac Allister transfer rumors have grown in recent days.

The 24-year-old has been better and better for Brighton ever since his country, Argentina, won the World Cup in December. And Klopp appears to be a big fan.

As per the report, Liverpool and Brighton allegedly have a deal in principal to transfer the player to Merseyside this summer. The Reds would make a direct payment of £53.2m, with a further £4.4m in performance-based add-ons.

Discussions were held well into Friday night in an effort to persuade Mac Allister that Anfield was the best place for him, despite the likelihood that he won’t play Champions League football there next year.

The probable pay that Mac Allister might receive at Liverpool was also discussed. He only recently re-signed a contract with Brighton in October to keep him there through 2025.

Deep into stoppage time on Thursday, Mac Allister scored his ninth Premier League goal of the year to defeat Manchester United 1-0 and maintain Liverpool’s tenuous chances of finishing in the top four.
