Manchester United not willing to match the asking price for Liverpool target Mason Mount

Manchester United are not willing to match the asking price for Liverpool target Mason Mount with Chelsea insistent on receiving at least £55 million for the wantaway midfielder.

Mount is being chased by England’s biggest clubs ahead of the summer transfer window with the England playmaker looking to head out the Stamford Bridge exit door after talks over a new contract hit a roadblock.

Liverpool’s hopes of landing the 24-year-old’s signature were recently given a major setback after speculation was rife that Manchester United had stolen a march in the race for the Chelsea first-team star.

According to a claim from The Independent, however, the Old Trafford camp are not prepared to meet Chelsea’s valuation of Mount – believed to be in the region of  £55 million – and an agreement on the fee is now the sole obstacle to his move away.

United secured Champions League qualification for the next season which might prove to be a big incentive for Mount to sign for the Red Devils over Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool who were considered as the early frontrunners for the player.
