The latest reports have claimed that Brazilian midfielder Philippe Coutinho could be open to a move back to Liverpool after a failed one and a half year stint at Barcelona.
It’s funny how the unexpected things take place in football. Back in January 2018, Philippe Coutinho made a stunning move from Liverpool to Barcelona in a £142 million deal with the solitary aim to win titles and especially taste continental glory by winning the Champions League.
The talismanic midfielder is extremely creative and talented on the ball and he was the catalyst for Liverpool during his time at Anfield until he handed in his transfer request to join the Catalonian clubs.
However, Liverpool have played in two Champions League finals ever since Coutinho’s departure and managed to win the prestigious trophy this season in Madrid. The Reds also finished 2nd on the Premier League table and Klopp is eager to dethrone Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in the next few seasons and end the Manchester dominance in England.
In order to do so, Liverpool needs a creative midfielder who can unlock the tight defenses and also add goals for the club against teams that park the bus. Coutinho fits the bill perfectly and reports claim that the 27 year old is keen on leaving the Camp Nou in order to revive his career.
And Liverpool are willingly ready to accept Coutinho back to Anfield with open arms as he was once adored by the Merseyside giants. There might be some controversy over a move back to Liverpool and Coutinho fears that most of the Anfield faithful would be disappointed with presences at the club.
Liverpool’s Premier League rivals Chelsea and Manchester United are also keeping close tabs on Coutinho but the Brazilian is reportedly not keen on joining any of the two clubs following his history with Jurgen Klopp’s side. Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint Germain remain the favorites among the pile to swoop in for the Barcelona playmaker at the moment.
