Simon Mignolet To Join Premier League Rivals In £8 Million Move?

According to the latest reports, Crystal Palace is looking to swoop in for a deal for Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet in the summer transfer window in an £8 million transfer.

Liverpool re-sounded their status as Champions of Europe earlier this month when they won the continental Champions League trophy for their sixth time in their illustrious and proud history. The Merseyside giants reached the final of last season’s Champions League as well but lost out to Spanish giants Real Madrid following two horrendous mistakes from Loris Karius in goal.

However, Jurgen Klopp managed to address his goalkeeping issue last summer when he broke the bank to sign Brazilian shot-stopper Alisson Becker from AS Roma at a record transfer fee of £66.8 million. Alisson has given Liverpool a certain kind of assurance in the last line of defense and won the Golden Glove this season with the Premier League outfit who finished 2nd on the league table, just one solitary point behind eventual champions Manchester City.

With Alisson’s outstanding ability and presence in goal, Liverpool’s 2nd choice goalkeeper keeper Simon Mignolet has not gotten a sniff of playing regular football under the German. The 31-year-old Belgian now wants a move away from Anfield after making only one appearance each in the League Cup and FA Cup that ended in defeat for Liverpool.

Mignolet wants to play regular football before the end of his career and as he enters his twilight years he could be on his way out of Liverpool this summer in order to achieve that. Premier League club Crystal Palace is reportedly eyeing a move for the Liverpool shot-stopper to take the place of departed Palace veteran Julian Speroni.

The Eagles are putting forward an £8 million offer on the table for Mignolet who joined Liverpool back in the summer of 2013 from Sunderland. Mignolet was the number one keeper for Liverpool for the majority of five seasons at Anfield making 204 appearances for the Reds in goal.

Even Premier League rivals Brighton and a few German clubs are monitoring Mignolet’s situation at Liverpool but Klopp will look to sell the player where he can generate maximum revenue from the sale of Mignolet.
