Crystal Palace are desperate to retain the services of Liverpool transfer target Cheick Doucoure who is wanted by Jurgen Klopp as part of his summer rebuild at Anfield.
The Reds boss is out to bolster his midfield roster further before the September 1 transfer deadline and it is understood that Klopp will want to follow up the signing of Wataru Endo by bringing in another fresh pair of legs.
Palace have lost their long-serving talisman Wilfried Zaha to Galatasaray this summer and could have also parted ways with Chelsea target Michael Olise before the latter penned a new long-term deal to extend his stay with the Eagles.
According to a report from the Evening Standard, it is claimed that Palace manager Roy Hodgson wants Doucoure to stay put at Selhurst Park for the new season and field him alongside new recruit Jefferson Lerma as his double midfield pivot.
Doucoure signed for the south London club from Lens for a fee of £21 million last year and enjoyed a stellar debut campaign in the Premier League, attracting interest from the likes of Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain courtesy of his performances.
