Liverpool consider making a move for Aston Villa star Douglas Luiz

Liverpool are reportedly considering making a move for Aston Villa’s standout player, Douglas Luiz, according to transfer journalist Ben Jacobs.

The Reds have made it a priority to strengthen their midfield in this transfer window and have already made signings like Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Wataru Endo.

However, it seems that Jurgen Klopp is not entirely satisfied with his current midfield options and is looking to bring in at least one more midfielder before the transfer window closes.

While Ryan Gravenberch has been widely mentioned as a primary target for Liverpool, it appears that they are also exploring the possibility of signing Luiz.

According to Ben Jacobs, Liverpool are actively planning to bring in a new midfielder before the upcoming transfer deadline. There have been internal discussions within the club regarding the possibility of signing the Villa star.

While they haven’t made a firm move to secure his services this summer, the situation may evolve in the coming days.

The Reds are also considering a move for Ryan Gravenberch, and the player is reportedly interested in a transfer to Anfield.

However, it’s unclear whether Bayern Munich will allow Gravenberch to depart this summer.

As a result, it remains uncertain whether Liverpool can successfully acquire the services of either midfielder before the transfer window closes.

Luiz is currently valued at around £34 million and has three years left on his contract with Aston Villa. Consequently, Villa are under no pressure to sell, and Liverpool would need to make a compelling offer to convince them otherwise.

Both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur had previously expressed interest in signing the Brazilian, but neither club pursued their interest further.

This potentially leaves Liverpool with a clear path to sign him in this transfer window if they decide to formalize their interest.
