German FA step up their efforts to sign Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp

The German FA have reportedly stepped up their efforts to sign Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp who is a serious contender to replace the sacked Hansi Flick.

According to a report from 90min, it is claimed that Klopp is eyed up by the German FA who are willing to let the 56-year-old see out his commitment at Anfield until the end of the season before taking on the national team job full-time come 2024.

Flick was given the axe by his country’s football federation in the aftermath of Germany’s 4-1 defeat to Japan last weekend as the former Bayern Munich head coach became the first ever Germany manager to be dismissed.

A disappointing World Cup campaign for Germany who failed to make it out of the group stage in Qatar and a horrid run of form and without a win since March had led to Flick’s sacking and the subsequent search for a new manager.

Klopp has voiced publically in the past that managing Germany would be a ‘great honour’ but taking the job would not be possible right now due to his loyalty to Liverpool.
