The latest reports have claimed that Premier League side Liverpool are keen on offloading star defender Dejan Lovren in the summer transfer window.
Liverpool endured a terrific run in the Champions League as they brought back the European Cup for the sixth time in the club’s illustrious history. But the Reds finished in second place on the Premier League table, just one solitary point behind leaders and eventual champions Manchester City but Jurgen Klopp is keen on ending Liverpool’s 30-year long wait for a Premier League title.
The German boss is planning on downsizing his Liverpool team and keep hold of the players that will benefit the club and offload the ones whose services are no longer required. One player who has come under heavy criticism throughout the season has been Croatian center back Dejan Lovren as the defender’s errors cost Liverpool a few points in the title race.
Lovren was initially thought of like a first choice center-back to partner Virgil Van Dijk in the heart of Liverpool’s midfield but he made just 18 appearances for the Reds as across all competitions. The 30-year-old lost out his place to young Englishman Joe Gomez and fell further down the pecking order due to the sturdy performances of Joel Matip.
And now, Lovren is linked with a move away from Anfield as he is considered surplus to requirements and Serie A giants AC Milan are keen on bringing the Champions League winner to the San Siro.
Lovren signed for Liverpool back in 2014 for a transfer fee of £20 million but the Italian outfit is looking to seal a deal for the central defender this summer at a price of £25 million.
