Jurgen Klopp unhappy with Liverpool’s poor display against Toulouse

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was unhappy with his team’s performance in the Europa League group stage match against Toulouse, which ended in a 3-2 loss.

The German believes his players lacked aggression against the Ligue 1 side, currently positioned 14th in the French league.

Klopp’s style of play emphasizes intense pressing and winning duels, aspects that were lacking in his team’s performance against Toulouse.

Players like Alexis Mac Allister, Wataru Endo, Ben Doak, and Cody Gakpo fell short in their duel success rates. The Reds needed more aggression, especially facing a motivated French side supported by their home fans.

The game also saw VAR controversy, as a late equalizer from Jarell Quansah was ruled out due to a handball by Mac Allister in the build-up.

While talking to TNT Sports, the manager said:

“We were not aggressive enough. They won all the decisive battles and challenges. We gave the ball away so easily. With all the possession we had, we could have and should have created more.”

“You cannot come here and concede three goals. That makes no sense. They fought harder and were more aggressive than us, so they deserved it.”

Liverpool have failed to secure early qualification for the next round of the Europa League, but they maintain their top position in Group E.

The team will aim to secure their spot in the next round in the upcoming match against LASK on November 30.
