Virgil Van Dijk Hails Two Liverpool Players After Late Forest Win

Liverpool’s leader Virgil van Dijk admired the spectacular performance from Darwin Nunez and Alexis Mac Allister, who played an important role in getting a thrilling victory against Nottingham Forest at City Ground on Saturday.

In an exciting match at the City Ground, Reds were able to secure a dramatic 1-0 victory against all odds in the 99th minute, with Nunez’s late goal. This win did not only preserve their five-match winning streak but also maintained their leading position in the Premier League.

Speaking to reporters post-match, Van Dijk was asked whether he ever thought it just wasn’t going to be Liverpool’s day.

“No, no, no, the game was not over so I still had the belief,” he replied. “We’ve shown over the course of my time here that we never give up. We always keep going. We found a way and that’s the most important thing.”

Van Dijk hails Nunez’s enthusiasm and performance despite his injury setbacks this season, showcasing the Uruguayan’s resilience and commitment to the team this season.

“Darwin’s been so important for us this season and it’s great to have him back out there. It’s a big goal and a well deserved win in the end,” he added.

With regards to Mac Allister’s impact since signing from Brighton & Hove Albion, Van Dijk said: “He’s an outstanding player both with and without the ball. He’s made such a big difference to the way we play in a positive sense. He has to keep doing that and stay fit.”

Liverpool has a very important week ahead, as they prepare for Europa League last 16 match against Sparta Prague on Thursday, followed by a season defining Premier League clash against Manchester City at Anfield.
