Philippe Coutinho’s agent Kia Joorabchian has admitted that the only club that the Barcelona playmaker could return to in the Premier League would be his former side, Liverpool.
Back in January 2018, Philippe Coutinho made the move to Barcelona from Merseyside club Liverpool in a stunning £142 million deal but the midfielder has failed to live up to that hefty price tag. The Brazilian star was once a talismanic figure at Anfield and the creative maestro but he has hardly managed to showcase that form ever since making the move to the Camp Nou.
Barcelona is now planning to offload Coutinho this summer as they want to recoup some of the transfer funds they spent on landing Antoine Griezmann last week. The World Cup winning French attacker will push Coutinho further down the pecking order and La Blaugrana are considering cutting their losses by selling the 27-year-old Brazilian.
Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint Germain and Premier League outfit Manchester United are keeping close tabs on Coutinho but the players’ agent has revealed that the playmaker could return to Anfield in the summer.
Coutinho’s agent Kia Joorabchian spoke to talkSPORT and explained that if Coutinho ever returned to the Premier League it would be Liverpool, “The thing is, Liverpool have built a tremendous squad. The manager has a great balance there and it’s probably one of the best-run football clubs in the country. So, with the build-up they’ve done and the squad they have, it [bringing Coutinho back] would really have to be something they would have to decide, whether or not they feel there is now a gap in the squad for someone like Philippe. I think it’s going to be a very difficult deal, but most of the big ones are always very, very difficult. Obviously, if he was to move back [to the Premier League], it would have to be Liverpool, but at the moment I think it would be difficult and it would be up to them.”
