Liverpool Target Jeremie Frimpong Makes Decision On His Future

According to the German outlet Bild, right-back Jeremie Frimpong has decided to stay at Bayer Leverkusen amid serious interest from Premier League elite Liverpool.

Jeremie Frimpong

The 23-year-old has been in sensational form for the German outfit this season. He has already racked up 12 goals and 11 assists in Xabi Alonso’s 3-4-2-1 system. He and Grimaldo have received a lot of praise due to their superior wing attack.

Due to his progress, it is quite normal for top clubs to show interest in him. Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Real Madrid are keeping tabs on the Dutch star.

Frimpong joined Leverkusen from Celtic for €11 million in 2021. His current contract will expire in 2028 and he has a €40m release clause. His parent club are not willing to sell him unless a crazy bid is made.

There are no talks ongoing with any club as the player is determined to stay with Alonso’s side. It has been said that the defender’s decision to remain at the club has been fueled by the Spanish manager’s decision to commit his future to Leverkusen.

He is said to be comfortable playing under the manager and has no intention to leave the club this summer. Liverpool are looking for a long-term successor to Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The English defender is on Real Madrid’s radar and they could make a bid in the upcoming months. The Reds only have Conor Bradley as another right-back option.

Hence, they need to sign an experienced player who has a winning mentality and who suits the club’s style of play. Liverpool’s wing attack system is similar to that of Leverkusen and Frimpong can work well in this setup.

The Bundesliga club are already the champions of Germany by dethroning Bayern Munich who had won the last 10 titles on the trot.

Frimpong’s focus will be on Leverkusen’s next Europa League quarter-final second-leg contest against West Ham United. It remains to be seen whether the defender change his stance on his future in the upcoming months.
