According to Football Insider, Liverpool boss Arne Slot is prepared to hand Fabio Carvalho the chance to prove himself in pre-season before deciding whether something more permanent can be made regarding his Anfield future.
Carvalho recently played in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Preston on July 19, and the youngster is set to feature in Liverpool’s pre-season tour of the United States.
Slot and his coaching staff will closely monitor his progress in the pre-season games before making a decision about his future back at Merseyside.
Carvalho has had a difficult ride at Liverpool.
He failed to nail a regular berth in the team after joining from Fulham in 2022 on a five-year contract under former manager Jurgen Klopp.
The previous year, Carvalho was loaned to RB Leipzig and Hull City.
In Germany, he encountered limited playing time, while with Hull City in the Championship, he fared much better.
In the 2023-24 season itself, Carvalho scored nine goals to go with two assists, in 20 league games.
Even in the midst of so much struggle, there were performances for Hull City by Carvalho which proved that he can make amazing contributions when needed.

The Portugal U-21 international has so far made 21 senior appearances for Liverpool, scoring three goals, starting in eight of them.
His spell at Hull while on loan has once again brought hope that may prove to be an asset for Liverpool.
This summer, Liverpool has made a lot of movement in transfers.
The Reds have loaned out right-back Calvin Ramsey to Wigan Athletic.
Thiago, Joel Matip, and Adrian have all left as free transfers.
All of these have created an open space in the squad that Slot is eager to find out if Carvalho can occupy.
This pre-season tour in the United States will prove very important for him.
It will provide him with an opportunity to showcase himself to impress Slot and his staff, probably leading to a more significant role within the team.
As Liverpool will play in the Champions League this season at the league phase, the club needs depth and quality in all positions.
His versatility as a forward and ability to play in almost any attacking role could be a further asset for Liverpool.
It is the decision of Slot which remains the final verdict on the issue of whether Carvalho stays at Anfield or goes for another loan spell to aid his development.
The club is therefore inclined to ensure that whatever call is made, it will be in the best interest of both the player and team.
