Liverpool Handed Injury Boost With Dejan Lovren

According to the latest reports, Liverpool central defender Dejan Lovren will be in contention to face Arsenal on Saturday as the Croatian has recovered from an illness that kept him out of the UEFA Super Cup fixture against Chelsea.

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool will face a tough test this Saturday as they host Unai Emery’s Arsenal in the Premier League at Anfield. The Merseyside outfit currently sits at the summit of the English Premier League table and is the only team along with Arsenal that has obtained six points from the first two games.

Arsenal has strengthened in the summer transfer window as they purchased a number of high-quality players as reinforcements and the North London side can pose a massive threat to Liverpool’s title hopes if their attacking department starts firing on all cylinders.

Trips to Anfield have not been ones off late as Arsenal have not won there ever since 2012 and have tasted a few pastings over the recent few seasons. The only two teams that still have a 100 percent record in the Premier League will face off on Saturday but Liverpool has been given another small boost considering the availability of Croatian defender.

When asked about why the 30-year-old wasn’t available for the UEFA Super Cup game against Chelsea, Klopp spoke to reporters and said, “Why isn’t he here? It’s because he is ill”. But Lovren has taken part in a training session at Melwood on Tuesday and looks fit enough to make an appearance for the Champions League holders.

Klopp will face the choice of which center back to pick to partner alongside Virgil Van Dijk and Joel Matip and Joe Gomez will have to prove their worth to the 52-year-old German manager ahead of the Arsenal clash.
