Liverpool midfielder Fabinho has admitted that his Brazilian compatriot Roberto Firmino advised him to join Jurgen Klopp’s side last summer.
Last summer, Liverpool lost the Champions League final to La Liga giants Real Madrid and decided that it was time to upgrade their squad with a few big summer acquisitions. Along with Alisson Becker, Xherdan Shaqiri and Naby Keita, Fabinho was the first man to join Liverpool last summer in a £43.7 million deal from Ligue 1 side AS Monaco.
Fabinho enjoyed a great 12 months with the Merseyside giants ever since and has become an established first-team player at Liverpool. The 25-year-old was a key factor for the Reds winning the Champions League title and finishing 2nd in the Premier League and Fabinho had a great debut season, to say the least.
However, the former Monaco man revealed the reason as to why he joined Liverpool and it was due to a conversation with his fellow national compatriot Roberto Firmino. Firmino praised German boss Jurgen Klopp for his work and said to Fabinho, “This manager demands a lot but he will improve you,”
Fabinho then decided to make the move from Monaco to Merseyside on a five-year contract and the defensive midfielder has proven to be a solid signing. He can also be deployed as a center back or a full back but so far he has become quite a favorite with the Anfield faithful.
