Liverpool center-back Dejan Lovren is set to stay at Anfield after German boss Jurgen Klopp has reportedly blocked his exit amid interest from AS Roma and AC Milan.
The Croatian defender was linked with a transfer to Serie A side AC Milan at the start of the transfer window but a transfer fee could not be agreed by both sides as the Italians weren’t ready to pay Liverpool’s €20 million asking prices.
He was then sentenced to move to AS Roma, but with Roma already signing Manchester United and England defender Chris Smalling, Lovren was no longer a priority for the Italian capital side.
Liverpool also did not sign any senior Center-backs in the summer window and Lovren’s departure would leave them with only three senior Center-backs. With both Joel Matip and Joe Gomez injury-prone Klopp might need to call upon Lovren at some point in the season. Liverpool is set to compete in five competitions this season including the Club world cup after winning the Champions League last season.
Klopp has agreed to youth striker Booby Duncan’s exit after the striker was in the news recently with his agent accusing Liverpool of mentally bullying the youth product. He is set to join Serie A side Fiorentina.
