Van Dijk Clams There Is Plenty more To Learn

Liverpool defender Virgil Van Dijk has stated that there is still much more room for improvement after he won the UEFA Player of the Year award ahead of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ever since Van Dijk arrived at Liverpool back in January 2018 for a massive transfer fee of £75 million from south coast club Southampton he has gone on to become a fan favorite at Anfield. The Dutch center back has helped Liverpool win the Champions League title in his first full season and has taken the clubs defense to a whole other level.

Winning the PFA Player of the Year as well Van Dijk has thoroughly established himself as one of the best defenders in the world at the moment. However, the 28-year-old defender is only keen on bettering himself for Liverpool and grow as a player.

While speaking to reporters in a recent interview he said, “The only thing I want to do is focus and get better, there are still plenty of things to improve – with the team and with myself – and that’s the only thing I want to do. The main thing is to try to put in your head that we all start from the bottom. We won the Champions League last year obviously but it doesn’t count right now, we start from the bottom. That’s how it is because that’s the reality. If we all keep that in our minds then we should be fine.”
