Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has challenged his team to maintain their champion mentality until the Christmas period.
The u at the moment as they are the only club in England’s top four divisions to maintain their 100 percent win record until now after four games played.
Klopp also delivered his first trophy for Liverpool this summer when he managed to win the Champions League title and that was soon followed by the UEFA Super Cup earlier this season. However, the 52-year-old German has insisted that Liverpool’s 100 percent start was foreseeable and no big surprise.
While speaking to reporters ahead of the Newcastle United fixture, Klopp said that he wasn’t focusing on playing the best football but instead trying to grind out results,” We were criticized about our pre-season and we were not good, that is the truth, but it was my fault that we had heavy legs. My priority was to be ready for the new season. It wasn’t about playing the best football, but winning the (first four) games. I’m so pleased we have done that because it was really difficult to be ready given that four or five players came back from their summer break only in the last 10 days”
The Liverpool manager also went on to add that the Merseyside outfit needs to continue their great run of results until January in order to be considered as champion mentality. Liverpool will play seven times from now until October 5th, “We’ve had a good start too. Against Arsenal (Liverpool won 3-1) and Burnley (they won 3-0) we were exceptionally lively. That’s special but it’s done now. We have to be 100 percent focused – that’s what took us to the position we were in last year. And as long as we can keep that mindset alive, it will be good. Yes, we have quality, but only with this mindset can we really perform on the pitch. The next few months are the most intense – right through until January, it’s a slog”
