Mohamed Salah, Joel Matip And Xherdan Shaqiri Injury Update

According to the latest reports Swiss winger Xherdan Shaqiri will be sidelined until the end of November but Liverpool admitted they have no idea when center back Joel Matip will again be available for selection.

Shaqiri has been out of action since the attacking midfielder injured his calf in training ahead of the League Cup tie at MK Dons back in September.

The 28-year-old Switzerland international has been restricted to just four appearances from the bench this season having previously injured his calf when appearing for his country in the UEFA Nations League fixture against Gareth Southgate’s England.

On the other hand, Cameroonian defender Joel Matip continues to be hampered by the knee complaint that has ruled him out of four of the last five games in all competitions.

Liverpool’s assistant manager Pep Linjders spoke at a press conference earlier and explained the injury woes at the club, “Shaq will only be back after the international break, We want to give him the time. With a calf injury, it is always very high risk, especially with his calves.”

The Dutchman went on to explain Matip’s problem as the center back has been one of the best players for the club over the recent past this season, “Joel’s knee is still irritated – we need to give him time. I don’t know the exact time he will need but it will really need time to heal.”

Even Egyptian superstar Mohamed Salah sparked fears of serious injury after the 27-year-old limped off the pitch at Anfield after the win over Tottenham Hotspur with the recurrence of an ankle problem.

But Linjders played down any sort of problems for the Liverpool talisman claiming that he should be fine in some time, “Mo is fine, Towards the end of the game, it is more precaution because the ankle gets more tired and he feels it a little bit more and we have to take him off. But he is fine, he is good. All the others are fit, hungry and ready to go.”
