Liverpool Vs Brighton & Hove Albion [2-1] – Liverpool Player Ratings

A hard fought 2-1 win against Brighton at Anfield this weekend helped Liverpool earn all three points and open up an 11 point gap at the summit of the table. Here’s how the Reds fared.

Alisson – 4

The Brazilian was good with his distribution and displayed calmness until his massive error which sent him off for handball. The 27-year-old will miss the Merseyside derby due to his rash moment.

Alexander Arnold – 7

Two beautiful crosses to set up Van Dijk’s headers but had to defend hard in the second half when Liverpool was down to 10 men.

Virgil Van Dijk – 9

The Dutchman once again proved the reason why he is worthy of winning the Ballon d’Or. Calm and composed at the back, dealing with everything that came his way and two goals which helped Liverpool earn the three points.

Dejan Lovren- 7

Another good game from the Croatian defender although he was given a few problems when Liverpool was down to 10 men. Looks a lot better with Van Dijk as his partner.

Andrew Robertson- 8

The left-back was relatively quiet in the first half but grew into the game in the second period. Another decent performance from the Scotsman.

Jordan Henderson- 7

The work rate was incredible as he needed to replace Fabinho in midfield but couldn’t really emulate the Brazilian as he normally controls the game.

Wijnaldum- 6

Didn’t quite live up to the high expectations that were desired of him and was played out of the park at times by the opponents in the second half.

Alex Oxlade Chamberlain- 8

The English midfielder is slowly but surely getting back to his best and looked in the mood with his high energy and pressing. Will give Klopp a lot to think about with his performances and whether he should be a regular starter.

Salah- 5

Another quiet night for the Egyptian as he still looks far from his best. That ankle injury isn’t helping his cause too much but he needs to be more involved in the game.

Mane- 8

The best player in the front three as he tried his best to create spaces and chances for his teammates. Gave the Brighton defenders quiet a torrid time with his constant attacking threat.

Firmino- 6

The Brazilian was unable to get into the game after a decent start as he produced a fine save from the Brighton keeper early on. Faded towards the end of the game.
