German manager Jurgen Klopp believes that Champions League winners Liverpool are yet to fulfill even half of their potential as the head coach embarks on the next phase of his long-term plan at Anfield.
The 52-year-old agreed on a two-year contract extension on Friday, tying him to the Merseyside club until the summer of 2024.
Since taking charge of the club just over four years ago, Klopp has had a galvanizing effect on the team and looks destined to deliver the Premier League leaders their first top-flight title in 30 years.
The Reds are currently eight points clear at the summit of the League table and have the European Cup in their possession but according to Klopp, this train will only keep moving forward,
The charismatic manager revealed to the clubs official website that he does not even feel that Liverpool are anywhere near their maximum potential so far despite a stellar start to the campaign, “We don’t feel we are close [to] the end, We feel rather we are, maximum, not even halfway where we want to be.”
Having committed his future he still went on to add that he wants to write many more chapters in the Liverpool history books,” We don’t think that we are only close to our 100 percent but we try to come closer and closer and closer. That’s what we said after the Champions League final, after the first one, after the second one: this is not the final chapter for this team, there is a lot more to write and we want to be really influential in that. We don’t know where it will lead us to, but at this moment… I don’t know the teams before I came in, but it’s one of the teams who are most committed to this club and it’s really, really nice to be part of that.”
