Ancelotti is Eager For The Merseyside Derby

Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti has claimed that it is not “mission impossible” for the Blue side of Merseyside to end their miserable record against their fierce rivals Liverpool.

Everton’s dire run in Merseyside derbies continued earlier in December, following a 5-2 defeat at Anfield marking the end of Marco Silva’s tenure as manager.

The Toffees have not beaten Liverpool in any competition ever since 2010 and to add salt to their wounds, the red half of the city is currently leading the Premier League table by 10 points.

However, Ancelotti defeated Jurgen Klopp’s full-strength team earlier this season, when the Italian was in charge of Napoli, beating the Reds 2-0 in their opening fixture of the Champions League in Group E.

Everton will visit Anfield once again in the FA Cup on January 5th and Ancelotti is relishing going up against the European champions once again as he has been the only manager to defeat Liverpool this term.

The 60-year-old manager stated that he will be looking forward to the clash against Liverpool as he has a pretty decent record against the Reds, “The Evertonians know my record against Liverpool, they will be happy with this,

Ancelotti proudly then mentioned that his Napoli was one of the only few teams to beat Liverpool earlier this season and the rivalry is a big motivation to do one better than their local neighbors, “[Napoli] beat Liverpool this season, it’s a big rivalry here and a big motivation for us. It feels good. Honestly, I have a really good relationship with Jurgen Klopp. It is always exciting, playing against them. Of course, I have beat them but they are not used to losing. It was a good day for me. I know how much Evertonians want to beat Liverpool. We don’t have to wait a long time, because we have the game on January 5, so we will see them soon. It’s not mission impossible, nothing is impossible in football.”
