Manchester United were beaten in the hand of the Reds side as fireworks ensued at Anfield on Sunday.
It was a terrific contest as some of the best talents were on show in the fixture.
While Manchester United presented David De Gea, Anthony Martial and coin their starting eleven Liverpool lined up with the impressive African footballer of the year Sadio Mane and Skipper Jordan Henderson.
The Reds went on to clinch the win as they were 2-0 winners in the match. Following the win, we evaluate the three significant lessons from the game.
Liverpool Continues Unbeaten Run
The home side were exceptional in the match dealings thanks to star forward Mohamed Salah and manager Jürgen Klopp. They both played a big part in the win as the former (Salah) scored at the death to confirm the victory.
Klopp could not hold himself in the touch line as Liverpool remained unbeaten in the EPL this season. It looked like the unbeaten run may hit a rock at Anfield but the host quashed such saying with a memorable performance at home to say the least.
Liverpool Champions Elect
The home side are paving the way for themselves as the look a step closer to winning the Premier League title this season. This was further enhanced by poor run from the Liverpool’s close rivals like Chelsea, Manchester City and Arsenal with the former losing to Steve Bruce Newcastle.
As the point margins continue to widen instead of the other way round, we might as well consider Liverpool the champions elect as Salah celebrated with his team similarly to how he did when they won the UEFA Champions League at the expense of Tottenham last year.
United Were Second Best
Manchester United were undone by the ephemeral performance of the home side Liverpool even as the home supporters played their part with cheers (positive) in the contest.
They dominated the game and deservingly took the lead through a header from Virgil Van Dijk.
The Dutch center back was spot on in the contest as he made things though for United going forward in the game. This is obvious as Liverpool kept a clean sheet in the match against the Red Devils.
