Liverpool 2-1 AFC Bournemouth : 3 Significant Talking Points from the Match

The Reds may have gone through a purple patch in recent weeks but there is the sign for positives as they won 2-1 against the Cherries.

The result may be there for all to see as Liverpool were not really convincing as they used to be. Jurgen Klopp’s men will be hoping to get back into their grooves as they look forward to pressing games ahead on the season.

Following Jurgen Klopp Liverpool’s triumph over Eddie Howe’s AFC Bournemouth, we evaluate three massive talking points from the Red’s Cherries match.

LIVERPOOL DEPENDENT ON AFRICAN DUO

The Reds won 2-1 against AFC Bournemouth thanks to the tactical rudiment that Klopp may have engineered in the game. But the whole process would not have been complete if not for the imperious input Liverpool’s African stars have made in the contest.

The Egyptian international showed his goal-scoring process by finishing past Bournemouth’s goal thus making it 1-1 from open play  during the match. Things became all rosy (better) for Liverpool as Mane scored to make it 2-1 seven minutes later.

The African star failed to perform in the Watford game and this saw them (Jurgen Klopp) lose the match even as Mane featured in the loss to Chelsea in the FA Cup third round at Stamford Bridge.’

LIVERPOOL WARM UP FOR ATHLETICO

The win was crucial for Liverpool’s season’s aspirations as they are still in the race to win two prestigious titles this term.

The 2-1 win may be downplayed by the over expectant (maybe Liverpool) sect but Klopp and his side know the importance of the win as things stands at the moment.

With Athletico Madrid on the Horizon, Klopp would hope that the win will put his side in the right frame of mind for the clash. They are 1-0 down in the UEFA Champions League tie and need something special to win at home against the rough and tactful Diego Simeone led side.

While Liverpool has beaten the Cherries with hope for the confidence, the major minus is the availability of clubs skipper Jordan Henderson as Athletico visits Anfield on Wednesday.

RELEGATION DANGER FOR BOURNEMOUTH

Losing 2-1 against the title bound Liverpool may be counterproductive as the case seems to be at the moment.

Eddie Howe has done a good job for the past four seasons since his side was promoted to the Premier League. This earned him a name among the shortlist to replace the former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger at Arsenal as at then when the pressure was on the Frenchman (Wenger) to quit the club (Arsenal).

However, with the Cherries lying alongside Watford, Aston Villa and maybe the likely relegated side Norwich City, things are not looking fine for the side at the moment.

This may have been duly affected by the Liverpool loss (2-1) at Anfield at the weekend despite the Cherries holding Chelsea to a 2-2 draw at Vitality Stadium in the previous week.
