The Premier League runaway leaders have been dealt with a major injury blow as Alisson Becker has suffered a hip injury in training potentially ruling him out for the clash against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.
The last two weeks have been less than impressive for the stellar Liverpool, as the Reds suffered three losses from their last four games across all competitions, consequently losing their unbeaten start in the English top-flight as well as being knocked out of the FA Cup by Frank Lampard’s Chelsea.
However, Klopp’s side are managed to get back to winning ways with a win against Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth at Anfield on Saturday but achieved the feat without star goalkeeper Alisson Becker
In a press conference ahead of his Liverpool’s clash with the Cherries, German manager Jurgen Klopp confirmed a hip problem for Alisson Becker, stating that the Brazilian will miss the game against Atletico Madrid, ”In training before the Chelsea game he had a little incident we thought it was nothing and he was not going to play anyway – he was going to be on the bench. We will see next week. It is in the hip region, you could do your work still but for a professional goalkeeper, it is a slightly different situation.”
The former Roma goalkeeper had spent some time on the sidelines with a calf injury sustained on the opening day of the campaign against Norwich City and in his absence, Liverpool’s defence looked less assured with Adrian between the sticks as the Spaniard kept just one clean sheet in seven league games.
His return to the squad then coincided with a brilliant run which saw the table-topping Liverpool concede only three goals in 12 Premier League games, keeping 10 clean sheets in the process, including seven in a row. However, Liverpool will be dealt a massive blow when La Liga side Atletico Madrid visit Anfield for the second leg of the Champions League.
