Jurgen Klopp planning to sign Vinicius Junior in the summer

Liverpool FC have opened talks with Spanish giants Real Madrid over a move for the Brazilian winger Vinicius Junior.

The Reds reportedly want to sign the 18-year old winger this summer who has also attracted interest in recent months from French side Paris Saint Germain. Vinicius Junior is highly-rated by his manager Zinedine Zidane at Madrid and Zidane has given plenty of first-team opportunities to the young Brazilian international.

The player was signed by Real Madrid for a sum of £40.5million in a deal which came into effect on his 18th birthday.

The Los Blancos had hoped to sign the winger on his 16th birthday initially, with the Real Madrid management hopeful of developing the flamboyant winger into the next Neymar.

The player has developed leaps and bounds since coming to Madrid and playing under club legend Zidane. He has won the FIFA Club World Cup for his side and has emerged as a skilful winger with an eye for goal. Vinicius made his debut for Brazil last year and will be hoping to cement his place in the national team squad, which is filled with world-class talents like Neymar, Roberto Firmino and Gabriel Jesus.

Real Madrid are believed to be not eager on selling Vinicius, with the club hopeful of developing the player even further due to his young age. However, interest from top European clubs like Liverpool FC and PSG has led to the Los Blancos management considering listening to reasonable offers for their young prospect.

The current season has been the breakthrough season for Vinicius since coming to Madrid. Long term injuries to new record signing Eden Hazard and Spanish attacker Marco Asensio has led to Zidane giving more playtime to Vinicius on the left flank. The player has scored four goals so far before the league season was suspended due to ongoing pandemic crisis.

Jurgen Klopp is reported to be highly interested in signing the 18-year old player and had even tried to make a move for him last summer. However, Real Madrid had declined to listen to offers for their young prospect last summer. With Los Blancos targeting a move for long-term target Kylian Mbappe, Klopp feels that it would be the right time to make a move for Vinicius, whose future at Madrid remains uncertain in the coming time.
