Recent developments over the past few weeks have led to Liverpool FC stepping up their interest in pursuing the transfer of Wolves star player Adama Traore.
This news of the Reds entering the race to sign Traore comes after the Merseyside club missed out the signing of German international Timo Werner. Liverpool FC were overtaken by their Premier League rivals Chelsea FC who overtook them in the race to finalize Werner’s transfer and triggered his release clause of £54million.
Liverpool FC’s manager Jurgen Klopp is a huge fan of Adama Traore, having praised the Spaniard earlier this season following the match between Wolves and Liverpool FC.
Traore took home the man of the match award for his performance in the Reds narrow 2-1 victory that day. Klopp had termed the player as ‘unplayable’ on that occasion. Traore’s electrifying speed and massive strength on the ball have made him a force to reckon with while playing on the pitch. The player signed for Wolves for a sum of £18m two years ago from Middlesbrough.
The 24-year old Leipzig striker Werner was widely tipped to join Liverpool FC having voiced his desire to play for the Reds under their manager Jurgen Klopp. The duo were even believed to have had a video call in recent weeks in which Klopp reportedly convinced the player to make a move to the Premier League and showcase his talent while playing for the Reds.
However, with Liverpool FC not being willing or able to pay the £54million release clause of Werner, negotiations hit a roadblock. Amidst this, Chelsea FC saw an opportunity and have agreed on a deal in principle with Werner’s current side RB Leipzig.
Klopp wants to add a player of Traore’s quality to his ranks as he wants to compete for more and more trophies in the coming seasons. The Reds, who can wrap up the current Premier League season with just two wins required out of their remaining six matches, already have the formidable attacking trio of Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane, and Mohammad Salah. However, Klopp feels that the addition of another attacker would bolster the team’s attacking options and make them more dominant in the coming years.
