Mohammad Salah has been compared to Cristiano Ronaldo by Manchester United FC great Wayne Rooney. The record goalscorer for Manchester United FC and a former Everton FC player has heaped praise on the influence Salah has had since arriving at Anfield.
Rooney played alongside Ronaldo for five years under Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford. The duo, along with Carlos Tevez, formed one of the deadliest attacking trios in the world during their time. Their attacking exploits were a primary reason for Manchester United FC’s Champions League victory in 2008.
Comparing Salah to his former teammate Ronaldo, Rooney noted that both players possessed superb speed on the flanks. Moreover, like Ronaldo, Salah also terrifies opposition defences while on the counterattack.
Mohammad Salah signed for Liverpool FC in 2017 from AS Roma. The transfer confused the Reds fans as the player had previously flopped in the Premier League for Chelsea FC. However, the next three years have seen Salah become one of the greatest attackers the Reds history.
The Egyptian international broke the Premier League goalscoring record in only his first season in the Reds shirt. The following season, Salah again won the Golden Boot, tied on the highest number of goals scored with Sadio Mane and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Salah’s exploits for Liverpool FC are a major factor behind the Reds performing extremely well over the past three seasons. The right-winger played an instrumental role in Liverpool FC winning the Champions League last season. The 2019-20 season has seen Salah score 16 times in the Premier League.
Rooney also added that Liverpool FC could dominate English football for many more years. Such an event may occur due to the world-class ability of the Reds manager Jurgen Klopp. The former Manchester United FC player stated that the presence of Klopp is the main reason behind the Reds successful 2019-20 Premier League campaign.
Rooney also voiced his disapproval at a recent statement made by Klopp. The German coach had said that it would be impossible to dominate the Premier League like Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United FC side. The Derby County player-manager stated that if Klopp stays at Anfield for another ten seasons, the Reds can easily win five Premier League titles.
