Liverpool FC starlet Curtis Jones has signed a new long-term contract extension with the Reds. The Scouser has been tied down for the near future to his boyhood side as Liverpool FC manager Jurgen Klopp has been left impressed by the 19-year old’s exploits on the football pitch.
Jones has been given first-team opportunities by Klopp this season with the youngster turning out in the domestic cup ties for the Reds. The 19-year old also has some Premier League minutes under his belt after a couple of appearances off the bench.
The player has been with Liverpool FC since the age of nine, having come through the ranks of the Merseyside club’s youth academy. Jones has been a fairly consistent performer for the Liverpool FC U-23s as well in the 2019-20 campaign.
The 19-year-old home-grown midfield talent has emerged as a major force to reckon with in the Liverpool FC’s roster of young players. Jones has shown incredible ability on the pitch against the likes of Everton FC and Arsenal FC in the FA Cup earlier this year.
The England U-19 international had scored a brilliant long-range goal against Liverpool FC’s arch-rivals Everton FC in the FA Cup tie. The goal scored by the youngster turned out to be the winning goal for his side and was a memorable moment for the Scouser.
Jones was also entrusted with captaining a young Liverpool FC side that faced Shrewsbury in a FA Cup replay by his manager Jurgen Klopp. The 19-year old showed a great set of leadership skills on the pitch and led his team to a deserved victory.
The new contract signed by Jones would extend his stay at Anfield until 2025. Liverpool FC had tied down the player to a new deal last summer as well. However, considering Jones’ progress this season for the Reds, a new improved contract has been offered to the midfield prospect.
Extending Jones’s stay at Liverpool FC is a masterstroke by Klopp. The German coach has often turned to his young players in the Reds side to fill up vacancies created due to injuries in the first-team squad. Besides Jones, Harvey Elliot and Neco Williams have also come up the ranks of the newly crowned Premier League champions.
