Jamie Carragher speaks on Liverpool FC’s transfer business and future reinforcements

Liverpool FC icon Jamie Carragher has called upon his former team to bring in new reinforcements this summer to bolster the current state of the squad. The ex-Reds defender feels that Liverpool FC needs two more signings to improve their chances of defending their Premier League crown next season.

Carragher, however, heaped praise on the signings made by Jurgen Klopp at the Merseyside club. The player-turned-football pundit believes that astute investments made by Klopp have made Liverpool FC a world-class side. The signings of Mohammad Salah and Sadio Mane were pointed out by Carragher to be a clever masterclass by the Reds manager.

Salah’s previous showing in the Premier League had turned out to be a flop for Chelsea FC. On the other hand, Mane’s fantastic run of performances for Southampton FC for about three seasons were hardly noticed by other top sides in the league. However, Klopp made the decision to sign both these wingers, who have now turned into two of the best attackers in world football.

Similarly, Andy Robertson turned out to be a bargain purchase for the Reds at a fee of £8 million. Robertson was relegated with his former side Hull City in only his first season in the Premier League. However, Liverpool FC still went ahead with their approach for the Scottish wing-back and signed him in 2017.

The 26-year old Robertson has now become a permanent fixture in Klopp’s first-team squad. The Scottish international’s defensive as well as attacking contribution on the pitch is of paramount importance to the Reds.

Carragher did point out that Liverpool FC would need to win more titles in the coming seasons to assert their dominance in the Premier League. The former player also added that the dynamics in the league may change come next season.

According to Carragher, the Reds are in need of another attacking option to their squad. The front trio of Firmino, Mane, and Salah is considered to among the best in football. However, a backup option is required in case any of the current forwards being sidelined due to injuries.

Moreover, Carragher expressed his opinion concerning another defensive reinforcement to be signed by the Reds this summer. The former Liverpool FC vice-captain feels that a left-back could also be signed by the Premier League champions to provide cover for Robertson.
