Liverpool FC ace Virgil van Dijk has showered praise on the recent form shown by teammate Naby Keita. The midfielder has been one of the standout performers for Jurgen Klopp’s side since the Project Restart. And van Dijk has hailed the 25-year old Keita’s displays in the center of the park for the Reds, even terming the player as “world-class” on his day.
The Dutch center-back labeled Keita as an outstanding player for the club. Van Dijk did admit that his teammate did not have the best of luck with injuries. However, the 29-year old expressed hope of Keita staying full fit next season and help Liverpool FC defend their Premier League crown.
Keita has been impressive for the Premier League champions ever since the resumption of football in England last month. The Guinean international has so far been unable to cement his place in the Reds’ starting lineup since arriving at Anfield in 2018. A series of injuries sustained by the 25-year old have curtailed his time on the pitch.
However, in the limited opportunities Keita has got, he has shown a certain flair in his game. The Liverpool FC midfield is characterized by high-intensity pressing and the ability to close down the opposition. There is a lack of creative knack in the center of the park for the Merseyside club.
Keita, however, has attempted to solve that very problem through his nifty dribbling aptness and passing range. Moreover, the midfielder is not shy to take a pop at the goal if a chance falls his way. Post the lockdown period, the 25-year old has scored once and assisted his teammates twice.
Keita’s arrival at Merseyside was subject to much excitement from the Liverpool FC supporters. A £52.3 million signing from RB Leipzig, a big price-tag accompanied the midfielder on his move to the Reds. Moreover, to add to the expectations surrounding the player’s future at the club, Keita was given the number eight jersey, famously worn by Liverpool FC legend Steven Gerrard.
The player has adapted well to life in the Premier League, despite not being a guaranteed starter at the Reds. In the sporadic opportunities that have come his way, Keita has not let down his teammates or the club’s supporters. Jurgen Klopp will be counting on the 25-year old to stay injury-free next season and turn in performances of supreme quality for his side.
