22-year old Watford attacker is garnering interest from Liverpool FC

The Reds have reportedly opened talks with Watford over the possibility of signing Ismaila Sarr this summer. Liverpool FC have been linked with making a move for the Senegalese international for a long period of time.

The Merseyside club’s interest in signing Sarr comes amid concerns that Liverpool FC needs to strengthen their current squad. Recent departures of Adam Lallana and Dejan Lovren have left a further void in the Reds’ first-team squad.

Liverpool FC boss Jurgen Klopp is believed to be keen on adding another attacking option to his squad. Besides the famed front trio of Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane, and Mohammad Salah, the backup choices at Klopp’s disposal include only Divock Origi and Xherdan Shaqiri.

Moreover, the 2019-20 season has been one plagued with injury problems for the 28-year old Shaqiri. The Swiss international has made just six league outings this season for the Reds. Also, speculation suggests that the winger may choose to take the exit door of the Merseyside club in the hope of greater first-team opportunities elsewhere.

The 22-year old Sarr could be a great forward alternative if Liverpool FC agrees upon a deal with Watford. He has racked up six goals and three assists for the Hornets this season across all competitions. The Senegalese had scored twice against the Reds in his side’s 3-0 victory over Jurgen Klopp’s men, ending the Merseyside giants’ hopes of finishing the league campaign unbeaten.

Sarr has enjoyed a great season on a personal note, with his team, on the other hand, enduring a miserable campaign which saw them being relegated to the Championship. The winger has looked very lively on the flank with his rapid pace and skill on the ball. Sarr’s style of play makes him a worthy addition to Klopp’s Liverpool FC squad.

Reports suggest that the 22-year old attacker may be available for a fee in the region of £22 million. However, Watford themselves had shelled out £30 million to sign Sarr last summer from Ligue1 side Rennes. The Hornets will surely be hoping to recoup their initial investment on the player if they allow him to leave for Liverpool FC.
