Liverpool target Norwich City’s Left Back to deputise Andy Robertson next season

Liverpool FC have expressed serious interest in signing Norwich City left-back Jamal Lewis to strengthen their squad ahead of next season. Recent reports have suggested that the Reds are in the market for further defensive reinforcements this summer. And a deputy for highly-rated Andy Robertson is rumored to be on top of Liverpool FC boss Jurgen Klopp’s shortlist.

Robertson is currently the only adept left-back at the Merseyside giants following Alberto Moreno’s departure last summer. The ever-dependable James Milner has often been slotted in that position since Klopp took over at Liverpool FC. In recent times, 19-year old starlet Neco Williams has been played as a left-back to give Robertson some much-needed rest.

However, there is no doubt that the Premier League champions do need to make certain additions to their league-title winning squad. Dejan Lovren’s departure to Zenit earlier this week meant that Klopp was in the market for another center-back for his side. Real Betis star Aissa Mandi has been reportedly subjected to a €10 million approach from the Reds.

Interest from Liverpool FC in the 22-year old Jamal Lewis comes amid Norwich City’s relegation to the Championship. Lewis has been tipped to seal a move back to the Premier League this summer, with many clubs in England’s topflight division willing to make a move for him.

The Northern Ireland international enjoyed a great first season playing in the Premier League for the Canaries. He made 28 league appearances this season for Norwich City, scoring once in the process. The 2018-19 Championship campaign that had secured Norwich City’s promotion to the Premier League had been a monumental one for the young left-back.

Lewis had been included in the 2018-19 Championship Team of the Season for his fantastic performances. The 22-year old style of play has been noted for his speedy dribbles and a short passing routine. Moreover, he also demonstrated the ability to make overlapping runs down the left flank.

Pursuing Lewis’s transfer would not cost Jurgen Klopp’s side a great amount of money. Considering Norwich City’s recent relegation, the now Championship side will be willing to listen to offers for their star defender.
